The new Kia Sportage vehicles were purchased with the assistance of St John of God Foundation Better Lives Programme and with the support of Kia Ireland.
The addition of the four new vehicles will greatly enhance the organisation’s transportation capacity, ensuring improved access and support for people using the service, many of whom rely on external transportation.
St John of God Community Services provides essential support to approximately 8,000 people nationwide and to 565 people in the Dublin South East region.
This latest investment represents a significant improvement to its transport fleet, ensuring it can continue to offer reliable, accessible transportation, while further strengthening their commitment to improving the quality of life for its service users.
Speaking about the development, Kevin Madigan, Chief Executive of St John of God Community Services said:
“This is a very welcome development, and it underlines our ongoing commitment to our service users. The new vehicles will allow us to reach more individuals and respond more efficiently to the transportation needs that exist across the Dublin South East region as well as giving us great flexibility and increased opportunities to deliver more community-based activities.”
Maria O’Mahony, Head of Fleet Sales, Kia Ireland added: “We are delighted to be partnering with St John of God Community Services as part of their mission to improve overall accessibility to its services.
“This partnership demonstrates our shared commitment to community wellbeing and mobility solutions for all citizens across Irish society.”
CEO of St John of God Hospitaller Services Group (HSG), Jerry Dempsey commented “We are pleased to support our colleagues in the St John of God Foundation and Community Services in funding the 4 new vehicles to enhance our services.
“We would like to thank Kia for their support in bringing this to fruition and look forward to furthering the partnership.”
The new vehicles were recently delivered to St John of God Dublin South East Services and have a capacity for five persons in total. They will be driven by specially trained members of staff at St John of God Community Services.
