It was Christmas Eve 1972, that the Brothers first began their mission in Wolverhampton. Since. then, the response to the homeless and hungry has continuously adapted ‘with food always at the heart of everything we do’.
On Thursday 13th January 2022, a service of Thanksgiving and Dedication was held in the newly acquired premises which now hosts the Services, and which is located across the road from Wolverhampton F.C. Molineux Stadium. A celebration with a small number of the homeless and hungry, volunteers, staff, Board members, Church leaders of the city, along with a few Brothers attended. The Archbishop of Birmingham, Bernard Longley addressed the gathering. He will return again in the near future to meet individuals who are supported daily by the Brothers and Volunteers. This event commenced a range of activities and actions planned for the year to advocate with and for the poor and homeless in Wolverhampton.
Over the 50 years, the citizens of Wolverhampton, including Wolves F.C, many volunteers, numerous families, various agencies, charities, business, generous benefactors have demonstrated a practical love and concern for ‘our brothers and sisters’ in need.
“By helping our poor sisters and brothers, you are doing good for yourselves.” John of God
